TORONTO – I’m a Virgin! A Gourmet Food and Wine Expo Virgin! This week I’m headed to the 24th Gourmet Food and Wine Expo running from Thursday, November 22 until Sunday, November 25th, 2018. I can’t wait to pop my cherry at what is known as the biggest food and drink event Toronto has to offer. The GFWE boasts over 1500 selections of wines, beers, spirits, international foods and products to sip, savour and enjoy! And for four days, the Convention Centre is transformed into a giant cocktail party with style and sophistication, where one can mingle and socialize with industry experts, fellow foodies, media professionals, drink connoisseurs, restauranteurs and chefs. Along with the exhibits, the show also features a Chef stage, a wine tasting lounge, Caesar competition, a pride night social, trend tasting stage and a spiritology pavilion. I especially look forward to the celebrity chef presentations, tutored tastings and bartender cocktail mixology 101! And who doesn’t love cheese and wine? Yes, I’ll be there taking it all in and making note of all the trade secrets.
As always, the expo provides great exposure to Toronto’s vast variety of restaurants and international wineries. Which is wonderful as I have a bucket list of restaurants and bars I hope to visit, I have a feeling that list is about to get a smidge bit longer. It’s been said that over 40,000 people visit this event annually, I’ve never been one for large crowds but my love for food and curiosity will outweigh any fears.
For those who love V.I.P. treatment, there are tickets available for the Gala on opening night where guests enjoy a sneak peak at the Expo as well as attending a soiree with major sponsors, buyers and industry professionals. Network and socialize with the elite media and industry partners as you partake in the opening ceremonies and celebrity demonstrations.
